All about Class 3 Certificates and its use

A class 3 three certificate facilitates digital signing of a particular file, using your company name. This certificate is for your company internal purposes only. You could not use this with a software development Kit (SDK)

How to obtain a Class three certificate?

You should need the following files to get a Class 3 certification.

Wmla.zip (containing Wmla.ocx)
Signcode.zip (containing Signcode.exe

Step 1) You need to register with any of the following certificate authorities.

2. Use the Signcode.exe tool (located in Signcode.zip, which was sent to you from wmla@microsoft.com) to sign/certify the attached Wmla.ocx file (located in Wmla.zip) using the certificate you obtained. You may also sign your files by using the utility supplied by your certificate authority.
    Important   Do not digitally sign an .exe file because Microsoft cannot receive them, even within a .zip file, due to virus checking.
3. Send the signed file to wmla@microsoft.com. Include your company name in the e-mail message for clear identification.
   To confirm that your signature is correct, right-click the file, click Properties, and then click Digital Signatures.
4. We will verify your signed file and confirm via an e-mail message.
